Get a leg-up on comprehensive lipedema care with this exclusive procedure developed by Dr. Jaime Schwartz.

Though there is still no cure for lipedema, there are options to help manage the day-to-day, debilitating effects of this often mysterious, medical fatty deposition disorder with surgical intervention being widely-regarded as the optimal solution. Combined with lymphatic sparing liposuction, compression & oxygen therapy, Dr. Schwartz’s Manual Lipedema Extraction technique has garnered attention from key lipedema researchers. Find out if this next-level lipedema treatment is for you.

What is Manual Lipedema Extraction (MLE)?

Developed by renowned, board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Total Lipedema Care in Beverly Hills, California, Dr. Jamie Schwartz’s exclusive massage-like technique of Manual Lipedema Extraction or MLE is proven to help effectively manage adverse fat deposition in its progressive stages. As lipedema worsens, patients will invariably begin to develop tender nodules, colloquially referred to as “lipedema pearls,” which stubbornly attach to the underlying connective tissue. When left untreated, these nodules can grow as large as golf balls, causing unbearable pain and limited mobility. Lymphatic Sparing Liposuction treatment is initially performed to remove the large build-up of adipose tissue, but often leaves behind residual nodules. These residual nodules can continue to grow, creating a vicious cycle and posing potential health risks in other areas. These leftover nodules are what inspired Dr. Schwartz to develop his exclusive MLE technique to safely remove the remaining fatty build-up without compromising nerve function and/or skin integrity. In short, the fatty build-up is gently kneaded and then manually extracted out of the body through the original liposuction incision. MLE has successfully helped mitigate chronic, everyday pain, while decreasing skin swelling and bruising and increasing physical mobility. Patients have reported an enhanced quality of life following their MLE treatment.

Body Benefits Following Manual Lipedema Extraction

Here are just some of the reported health and body benefits following MLE treatment for lipedema:

  • Diminished pain, bruising, and swelling
  • Improved skin vascularity
  • Boosted mobility and increased physical activity
  • Enhanced, more enriched quality of life
  • Legs/Arms feel lighter and less inflamed

Am I a Good Candidate for Manual Lipedema Extraction?

As mentioned earlier, there is no cure for lipedema, however early intervention following a diagnosis is key in halting lipedema from progressing into lymphedema and lipolymphedema.

Overtime lipedema patients develop such thick, hard-to-remove fibrous fat that it’s virtually impossible for the fat accumulation to be eliminated through traditional liposuction methods alone. Hence, Dr. Schwartz performs a two-pronged approach consisting of Lymphatic Sparing Liposuction followed by Manual Lipedema Extraction.
